1. what are the differences between Wang Jiaorui(Red Rose) and Meng Yanli (White Rose)? which one do you prefer? why?

   Jiaorui is a passionate and active woman, she knows exactly what she wants in her life. she also dominated the relationship 

   between her and Shihong. She kinda stands for the modern women who control the path and direction of their own lives. 

   On the other hand, Yanli represents a traditional chinese woman in the story, her life has always been controlled by

   someone else, maybe her parents before she marrys Zenbao. Zenbao, of course, after they get married. she is so uses to it that she has

   lost her true self, she is jsut a empty container with nothing valuable inside. 

  I like Jiaorui more than Yanli generally, though she is may not be a faithful lover, her life is pretty much the way she wants it.

  At least she is a honest woman who face her desire and has the courage to pursuit them. We may not say if she is doing the right

  thing, but we still can admire her brave deeds.

2.According to Erich Fromm's The Art of Loving, explain the reason why love is an art.

Love is the answer of the problem of human existence, Man is  a part of natural, once he is torn away of nature, out of paradise, he cannot return to it.

3. In dicussing the theory of love, explain the reason why love is essential in the experience of human existence.

 The biggest porblem for man is to oversome the loneliness results from separeteness, love is the one way to keep man from separateness.

 Through love, man and woman become the same.
