The memoirs of a Geisha was a memoir of a Geisha named Sayuri(Chiyo). The story started with her being a little girl was sold to Kyoto with her sister.

luckier than her sister, she was sent into a Geisha house as a servant girl. In the beginning she all her want was to escape to find her sister, but soon

 after her failing of fleeing away, she was informd about the death of her parents and the leaving of her sister without her.

At this time, she met the most important man  in her life-Chairman. It was then, she set her mind on becoming a Geisha.

she'd been through a lot for becoming the most desireable Geisha at her time. However, the war broke her dream and separated her from people she

care.  In the end of the movie, she finally met with the Chairman again and they seems to be together.

However, in the class, I learned that it is not the end of the story. Sayuri immigrated to new york to live in an apartment, she was with Chairman

the rest of her life. but not as a wife but a mistress.

I admire Sayuri's courage, she didn't let go of her dream when most  people of her time had abandoned themselves. It was courage like this change

her fate and make her life a legend.
